The simple definitions

Perimenopause is the transition where hormones fluctuate and cycles can change. Menopause is a point in time you reach after 12 consecutive months with no period.

What you might notice in perimenopause

  • Periods that become irregular (timing, flow, or both)
  • New or changing symptoms (sleep disruption, mood shifts, hot flashes, brain fog)
  • Symptoms that come and go (patterns may be inconsistent at first)

What you might notice after menopause

  • Symptoms may continue, change, or ease over time
  • Some symptoms become more “steady” rather than cyclical
  • Tracking can still help you see what improves or worsens symptoms week to week

A practical way to use this info

You don’t need perfect precision - focus on what’s disrupting your life most, and track consistently enough to spot patterns and impact over time.
